Adult Mental Health Inpatient Services 

Our acute Adult Mental Health (AMH) Inpatient Services provide care and treatment for men and women who are experiencing acute mental ill-health conditions, such as psychosis and personality disorder, across Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire and Bassetlaw. 

Our care is patient centred and we treat each patient as an individual. Our services focus on assessment of need, treatment, and recovery. We have a strong ethos regarding least restrictive practice and have participated in national quality improvement projects to sustain our excellent rating in this area.

Roles and Careers

A Golden Hello Payment of £2,750 
We offer an additional payment of £2,750 to all Band 5 and Band 6 clinicians who are new starters to the trust in Adult Mental Health Inpatient Services.

We provide free onsite parking for all staff at our AMH Inpatient services. 

Both Highbury and Sherwood Oaks have onsite café’s and restaurants where staff can access hot and cold food and drink. 

24/7 Support for Our Staff

You’ll be working alongside and fully supported by a dynamic multi-disciplinary team consisting of a Psychiatrists, Junior Doctors, Psychologists, Ward Manager, Nursing Team, Occupational Therapists Healthcare Assistants and support staff.  All staff will be fully supported by colleagues and senior staff members, with help and advice available 24 hours a day. This includes access to clinical and managerial supervision and ongoing support from managers and peers.

Our Adult Mental Health Inpatient Services are based at:

Highbury Hospital (Bulwell, Nottingham City)

Newly qualified Nurses, Nursing Associates or Allied Health Professionals have instant access to our comprehensive and in-depth preceptorship programme, as well as mentorship and weekly reflective practice for all staff and access to skill-boosting training to progress quickly in your career.

Highbury Hospital, based in Highbury Vale, Nottingham, offers a broad range of services at its large purpose-built site which is within easy reach of Nottingham city centre and has great links to public transport. The hospital offers free onsite parking and also has a range of café’s and restaurants for staff to access hot and cold food and drink. Highbury also boasts its own Community Garden, which grows a whole host of fruit and vegetables and offers a peaceful and tranquil outdoor space. 

Our acute adult in-patient facilities at Highbury hospital consist of separate male and female wards, a specialist psychiatric intensive care unit: 

  • Rowan 1 and Redwood 1 (Male wards) 
  • Redwood 2 and Rowan 2 (Female Wards) 
  • The Willows (PICU) 

Sherwood Oaks Hospital (Mansfield, Nottinghamshire)

Sherwood Oaks is a brand new, purpose built 70 bed unit which opened in November 2022. Based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, Sherwood Oaks hospital is in a prime location with links to public transport. The hospital offers free onsite parking, and is only a stone’s throw away from some great local amenities, including a Costa, Greggs, Supermarkets, Gyms and retail shops.
