Net Zero and Sustainability

We are committed to protecting both patient and planetary health and we have a number of ways in which you can get find out more and get involved.

Carbon emissions which are responsible for climate change are generated during the delivery of healthcare by lighting, heating, and cooling the building we work in, travelling to and from sites to undertake maintenance work, visiting patients’ homes to deliver care and receiving deliveries of goods. They are also produced through the treatment of the waste we generate and from the products we buy for example food, IT equipment and medical supplies. All of these activities contribute to our Carbon Footprint.

At Nottinghamshire Healthcare we are committed to reducing our carbon emissions and have a Green Plan in place to identify how we will do this. You can get involved by becoming a Green Champion and be part of our staff network or by signing up with colleagues and / or patients to Green Impact, our sustainability behaviour change programme. We have a dedicated Energy and Environmental Department working to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and improve our environmental performance and they would be happy to speak to you to provide more information.
