Trust awarded Carer Confident Level 2 accreditation for workplace carer support

Nottinghamshire Healthcare is delighted to have been awarded the Carer Confident Level 2 accreditation which recognises those organisations which are accomplished in providing carer support in the workplace.

The recognition has been awarded by Employers for Carers, whose Carer Confident benchmarking scheme assists employers to build a supportive and inclusive workplace for staff who are, or will become, carers.

Following an assessment of five benchmark criteria, including carer experiences, the Trust evidenced their commitment to supporting colleagues who are or may become carers through; enabling carers to identify and recognise themselves, making carer support transparent, connecting and engaging with carers and how we communicate and support carers in the workplace.

This included the launch of our virtual staff carers peer support group, our carers network and our new Staff Carer Support Guide.

Jen Guiver, Executive Director of People and Culture, said:

“I’m really proud that Nottinghamshire Healthcare has been recognised for our work on supporting colleagues who are or may be carers in the future.

“We really pride ourselves in being a compassionate and inclusive employer and we know that many of our colleagues undertake busy NHS jobs as well as providing care to loved ones. This award demonstrates our commitment to creating the right environment for our staff so that they can reach their potential and balance their home and work lives.”

In 2020 the Trust was recognised as a Carer Confident Active Employer Level 1, which demonstrated our commitment to carer support through workplace policies and practice, supporting colleagues to recognise themselves as carers and access practical support in the workplace.

Employer for Carers is a multi-sector forum, supported by the specialist knowledge of Carers UK. Its purpose is to ensure that employers have the support to retain and empower employees with caring responsibilities.
