Brexit and the NHS workforce

The United Kingdom's vote in the European Union (EU) referendum to leave the EU, and subsequent departure in January 2021, has created significant uncertainty among our NHS workforce.

Our EU staff are a valued and appreciated group of the 1.2 million workers in the NHS. It is important that they are provided with the certainty they need to continue living and working in the UK. Information on the EU Settlement Scheme and how to support your EU staff is available in our dedicated web section.

We will continue to keep you updated on any developments affecting your ability to recruit and retain your valued EU staff. In this section, you will find support and information to help you do that.
